Looking to see if anyone knows if this is a normally struck coin the way the first numeral is buried in the neck of lady liberty. Doesn't seem to be normal. Not knowing there were varieties of these, I sent it in for grading after I found it but never paid for the attributions. It was a dug coin that I found about two years ago. Thanks

Thanks. Just curious and not disputing but why such a difference on the location of the date on the photos on PCGS site? Some touch and some don't.

The date position will vary depending on which obverse die was used to strike the coin.

Mine appears to have been struck by the same die.

Nice topic. "Gold coins".

In that time the date was punch manually on the die, so result in deafferents locations. It is a variety? NO. it is same thing with many modern coins (ex: mint location).

I do not understand why to send at regrading when was done by ANACS, the only one TPG which give and recognize CONECA and varietyvista varieties and errors.? Also why to grade a gold 900 coin? How many TPG experts in gold they have? Not many. So for me to send a gold coin pre modern era to certif. ? is just put my beer money in the garbage can, except if it is not a rarity or very high premium coin.

Your conclusions.

PS: In my opinion your coin is a AU50 not better a 0.12oz and 5-600 $ coin.
