I started translating an article about Liberty Head $2.50 and came across a translation of the word "motto". "Its exceptional length—remaining unchanged for 68 years, unlike the larger denominations that received the motto in 1866—makes it a very difficult series to complete. "- how can I translate this word in this text ?

A motto is a short sentence or phrase. In United States classic coins motto typically refers to the phrase "In God We Trust".

Right, a few words that demonstrate one's beliefs or ideals.

Thank you for help. I have another question "the hub or master die". I do not quite understand the context of this expression and cannot understand what it is about.

The difference between a hub and a die is that the hub has a raised image and a die has an incuse image, so one forms the other. The master die and master hub are used to create the working dies and working hubs.
