I'm thinking PSD as the last "T" in trust looks deformed from metal being move inward from a strike on the edge and the ridge of the coin is still in place.

Dropped coin, landing right on it's edge? If so from a high point of release.

I always tried to imagine what a coin would look like after it was tossed of the Empire State Building and crashing into the cement sidewalk.

I'm leaning towards a clip, but not strongly.

It looks like the last 'T' is moved. But shows weakness on the right stem lines.
So the jury is still out on that one.

Here is the edge. I do not have a small enough scale to weight it but did a balance test with another 1951-D and it was pretty much the same.

I'd keep this one safe. The More I look at it, I'm seeing these events happen to you coin:
1. Weakness on the right wheat stems.
2. The Blakesley affect on the rims. (Note the rim on the edge of the left wheat lines area. That shows the rim was never there, thus the setup was not created there, because of the missing edge on the opposite side)
3. The affected edge doesn't show a contact mark flattening anything on that area. If it were a bent coin tossed into the sidewalk, it would altering the edge of the rim. I'm not seeing that on your coin.
So I'm starting to lean more towards a straight clip.
4. The only thing that still bothers me is the last 'T' on TRUST. Seems like it is to short in the wrong direction. But may there was an issue with grease on that device?

I think you're right, Coop, but I do have a question about the edge texture. It looks like it could have been coarsely abraded, and there may even be a bit of metal displacement on the corner. Maybe that's just what the edge of the sheet looks like.
The T doesn't look like it's associated with what happened to the edge- maybe just independent damage?

If I knew for sure that the inside edge of the rim, is correct, then that would remove all doubt. But the edge, with the highs and lows on that area, That makes me more sure that it is the outside edge of the stock material we are looking at.
