Let me know what you think. Is this a DDR?

It doesn't look DDR to me, what area are you referring to?

Also clinch those staples before you scratch another coin with them.

Not seeing a DDR. Photos taken through the plastic of a 2x2 are typically less-than-optimal. And that staple--ready to claw the dickens out of another coin.

If you look behind the flame there seems to be other markings as well as rotated leaves as if it was struck onto a coin instead of a blank planchet. On "of" I see what looks like the original "impression" lettering or something if that make sense? I know it's not a DDR idk why I was thinking that..

There's a bit too much reflection for me to discern anything.

Staple anxiety is a real thing here. Clean pliers will do.

It is showing extreme die wear. What year is it? It appears silver. If so the melt value could be a plus for the coin. But more of die distortion because of die aging issue.

It's a 1989 P like the title states. What about the obverse does Roosevelt's eye appear doubled to you? If not then I'm going to call it a dud, lol I've spent too much time on it already dont ya think! Lol thanks for everyones input! I've found plenty of wheaties in my most recent box of pennies to kill some time on #128579;

first off: to CCF

Second: This is a heavily worn coin possible pressed out from worn dies,

Third: I think I see what you are talking about with the eye. it is most likely MD. There was a thread a few years ago that show almost the exact Machine Doubling.
Have a look at that thread, just do us a favor and do not post in that thread and revive it. Look at for archival purposes only.

I agree with Coop and Dearborn that it is severe Die Deterioration.

The lines you are seeing radiating outwards from the center are known as die flow lines. The metal of the planchet flows across the face of the dies to fill the recessed areas of the dies. This movement eventually creates the grooves and other depressions on the face of the die.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
