I'm pretty sure about this one, but just need confirmation. Notice there is doubling under the chin and the doubling on RUS of "Trust" is strong. I just got this in a large lot of customer-wrapped JFK halves the other day

From the pictures you've shown it looks like Mechanical Doubling on you third pic. If you could take a pic. with maybe a little more light it may show what you see better. Thanks

Hi,
I have no doubt that it is the DDO. Even as dark as the picture is, the shapes of the letters are the way they should be and the notches on the 4 are a dead giveaway:-)

Nice coin!

Thanks,
Bill

The one problem you may find with this coin if reselling becomes your goal is that the number of collectors specializing in Kennedy half dollar die varieties seems to be far smaller than the number of these pieces known. Demand is far lower than supply driving the value of this nice doubled die downward. In fact, it is one of the cheapest of all major U.S. doubled dies at about $15-$20 for a Bu example.

Thanks everyone. I think JFK is a sleeper series. People will wake up maybe 10, 15, 20 years from now. There are a lot of low mintage coins in this series, especially 2002-present. Putting together a BU set from circulation is extremely difficult.

My macros setting stinks on my dig camera, so I was taking pics through a microscope and couldn't get the lighting right. I got the degree of magnification, but couldn't get the lighting right.

mycrob,Again, nice find!! I too feel that this coin is or has not been recognized for the history and design it brings to the coin community.I also have almost finished this series, proofs included and this is not easy, sure looks sweet in the album, also tried the new album cover to protect the coins, we will see, be well, Mike
