Hi There,

I am really curious about this coin. I compared it to other 1986 coins I had.

For some reason the east part of the coin seems elevated.

The "GOD" seems like it is double die, but could be Machine Doubling. The groves seem really pronounced.

Also the "L" in liberty looks like an I

The coin seems to have many die scratches (striations) both obverse and reverse.

Could this be the result of a hub striking many coins and needing to be replaced.

Can anyone explain this to me?

The elevated area around 9 o'clock by the inscription is likely Ridge Ring (tired die).

Along with the Ridge Ring that was present, a heavy polishing removed so much of the bust on the right side, that the jacket edge is almost gone. The fields look so flat. The polishing removed a lot of the Liberty and the 'IN GOD' areas. Probably able to get a couple of 100-200K more strikes out of these dies. Well, they are into the business of making money. Be interesting to see what these dies looked like on the next restoration of these dies? They will probably surface, here.
