Coins that have been in circulation for decades are exposed to all kinds of challenges--environmentally-caused degradation, hits and dings, circulation wear, maliciously-motivated people, etc., etc. Too, some characteristics of coin design can lead to unintended wear consequences. X2an Pillar of the Community Sweden 1078 Posts	Posted 04/07/2021 7:03 pm That coin hasn't been in circulation for 35 years - it should have had a very brief circulation life as Mexico was suffering from pretty high inflation in the 1980's - the currency was redenominated in 1992 and thus this coin could would no longer be legal tender and circulating since then. What you're looking at here I suspect is a Grease Filled Die, obscuring some details. Add to the fact that this is a steel coin and is quite wear resistant. Report this Post to the Staff

Am practicing getting quality images down under 300Kb which would have really shown the vertical scoring features as they are clearly caused by a damaged tool. Good forum. I have come across others that are off centre and one that should have the words KING WILL but instead looks like WIII.It's also upside down if I studied correctly.
