Pulled directly from a sealed mint bag.
Heres a neat example of "bag toning".
It most likely sat up against the mesh fabric of the mint bag for quite sometime to achieve this look.

I thought so too. There are of coUrse other variables in play here like moisture,temp,and storage environment.

I have 5000 Cent Mint Sewn Bag that has several coins with large purple fingerprints on otherwise solid red coins. I don't have any images of the fingerprints, but I'll see if I can find them this weekend.

This is the strange mint sewn bag that had 5624 coins that were all struck with clashed and over polished dies and die rotation from 11° to 40° on most of the coins. I posted about the bag almost TEN years ago here at CCF. (Wow how time flies!) http://goccf.com/t/89269
