Hey guys! I would like your feedback. I found this 2007 Lincoln some parts looks like MD to me like in Liberty then other Parts DD on obverse. Like in 2007 especially the 7,2,and D mint mark. Thanks!

Well it is not Machine Doubling it is actually die aging, called DDD Die Deterioration Doubling. Well how it that different from Machine Doubling? DDD affect the outside edges of devices and shows on the outsides of the devices facing the rims. Note on your coin, the direction? It is towards the rim. Note on 'GOD', again towards the rim. If this were Machine Doubling the same direction would be noticed. Like on the date, it appears as MD, but on GOD, it is on the opposite sides of the devices. So the whole coin is affected by DDD.

@Coop Thanks Coop! I was bewildered on what was going on with this one because I just picked up another 2007 and I can clearly see the MD all over that one. Lol! Thanks again!

The exception to the rule for direction on Machine Doubling is the incuse devices. They will be affected in the opposite direction. (The push is that strong)

On Machine Doubling most of the time, the push is in a single direction:

So another way to tell if it is Machine Doubling or DDD.

I agree with DDD, and please work on filtering your light source.

8@Coop Thanks for the extra info as a matter of fact ive seen that raised doubling in different directions alot on the newer coins. Especially on the 2006 Lincoln. @John1 Yeah...i know that it could be better. But we do our best with what we have. Thanks! when I can get something better my pictures will be in better lighting and as clear as natural spring water. Lol!
