I was able to get this graded for $9 on a piggyback.....so I did it. It came back almost as expected on my end....a little disappointed....but I just wanted it slabbed and it had the rim toning I liked....1881 is my favorite year for coins...OK Corral.....assassination attempt and eventual death of then President James Garfield...albeit months later. Let me know what you think and leave a grade.

Hmmm, AU55 is my first impression, but guessing AU58 is more accurate . Surfaces look pretty dull.

Since I'm relatively new to coin collecting (> 10 yrs.) and can say I've never handled a MS let alone an AU coin in this series....watch and learn...SO i"ll go along with AU-58

Looks like a real beauty from here

AU-55. Seems dull and marks in the field in front of her knees. Wondering if it was details and that is the disappointment.

Dang! That's a tough coin. I'll drop in at AU-53 to be a little different.

Was on the fence about the old cleaning being market acceptable, but XF certainly seems harsh.
