Could not find any varieties with this extra rim/doubling around the chin. It almost looks like a double die. What causes this? Thanks.

Well circulated normal Cent with MD on the upper and lower Chin.

Looks like a die crack from the bow tie to the top of his ear also. Can't tell for sure.

VestigeWolf: I think it is just the lighting on the photo. Examining it with my loupe, it does not look like there is a die crack, although I can see what you are talking about in the previous picture. Thanks

It is not MD. It is called Channeling:

It was done to strengthen the the design on the aging master hub.
