I picked Buffalo because of it's intricate reverse design . Liberty head and Jefferson ran second and third .

I like Jeffersons because they were very underappreciated for many years, and they're the only coin you can reasonably hope to complete a set of from coins found in circulation.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Surely the V-nickel is one of the most inspired designs of all time!

Obviously the Buffalo nickel for me (featuring the American Bison). Better Helder?!!! one of my all time favorites and the design that got me hooked on numismatics when I was a kid. Very nostalgic coin for me.

I'll agree with my friend ty2020b, the Native American/Bison Nickel was iconic. It truly represented the American West. James Earl Fraser created one of the most iconic coins that has been supplemented with dead old guys. So sad what has become of our coinage. But to truly see the details you need the Bison Commemorative.

Shield nickels I think are just gorgeous. I hate to not vote for a Liberty depiction, but the Liberty Head is a close second for me

Helder , back in my day we called them Indian Head Nickels . But you have have every right to call them what ever you like . The Silver Bison Nickels are a beauty .

Quote:The Flying Eagle cent and early IHCs beg to differ. True, but with a mere 12% nickel composition? I guess they can join the party, but only if we uninvite the wartime Jefferson issues

Buffalo nickel for me. They will always be partial to me since they were some of my first coins I had when I was young.

Quote: True, but with a mere 12% nickel composition? Hey, it is what they called them back then (along with white cents). And our three and five cents "nickels" are only 25%, so really still a minority metal. Sounds better than "mostly coppers" I guess.

Come on guys I'm sure the OP was only referring to Five Cent Pieces . Not the Three Cent Nickels .
