1956 Penny - Machine Doubling Or Double Die

Many wheat cents have interesting issues such as die cracks and die chips. I agree that you're seeing mechanical doubling/die deterioration doubling with the one image posted. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 05/04/2021 10:57 am Correct Machine Doubling. it always affects the outer edge of the devices. On a doubled die, the doubling will be notice more on the center of the devices. Along with the dots enlarged and made egg shaped: (Also note this doubled die has light Machine Doubling on the left side of the devices. Yes, MD can happen to a doubled die as well) Here is a normal view and a DDR view of the EPU on a Wheat cent.
