Apologies if this is obvious but I'm new to this. I have a Penny with doubling and believe it is Machine Doubling but wanted confirmation from experts.

Large, full and sharp photos of the coin's obverse and reverse would be welcome--could show us additional characteristics of your '56 Wheat cent. Many wheat cents have interesting issues such as die cracks and die chips. I agree that you're seeing mechanical doubling/die deterioration doubling with the one image posted.

Correct Machine Doubling. it always affects the outer edge of the devices. On a doubled die, the doubling will be notice more on the center of the devices.

Along with the dots enlarged and made egg shaped: (Also note this doubled die has light Machine Doubling on the left side of the devices. Yes, MD can happen to a doubled die as well)
