I just thought I could see an extra column to the right of the middle column. And the deterioration of the right hand stairs pillar being notched.

If you are talking about the area next to the face, that looks more like a split plating issue. Note the zinc ooze? Very slight Machine Doubling on date. No DDD. So I arrived at the split plating issue.

Oh and is that fourth line that appears north of his collar on his neck indicative of Deterioration? @coop

That might be part of a clash mark?

On the first image, not the affected area you are seeing? Then note there is a bay over that area. That bay edge altered the obverse die, flattening the outline, just a little. So the coins struck with that die, will show that line your seeing there, until the die is polished or the clash line flattens and goes away. Thus the overlay will show you what contact the die can have. Mostly on the devices on the centers of the design. Thus the jail house cents:

So looking at the overlay you can see how the opposite die altered each other when there was not planchet in the chamber.
Your die that struck your coin may have been polished, but missed that small clash area. Thus the overlay shows us what it was and now we know. A minor clash mark.

*** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. ***
