The third and definitely most exciting RDV-006 of my hunt to go along with the two 2000 WAMs! The WAMs were fun, but this is one I've wanted for a long time. When it rains RDV-006s, it truly pours. Very nice find! Wonderful example too. Good amount of luster remaining and very little zinc exposure. Not a lot of zincolns look like this after a while in circulation! Very tough variety, congrats!

I have been hunting for that coin for the last two weeks. Rolls after rolls. I'm jealous. Alot of the FG are faint or dinged up. Nice find..

Thanks guys!
@CH27 yeah, I was super excited that one of the nicest 88s in the batch was the RDV-006. Feels like I never get this luck of the good die and the good coin coinciding lol
@Minnimarine A good thing that Coop taught me about this variety is that if the FG is faint, it is almost certainly not an 88 reverse of 89. The reason that 89 dies were used was that they ran out of the 88s at both mints that year and had to dip into the 89s. This happened at the end of the year, and as a result, the dies were not used long enough to reach a late die state where the initials were abraided away. If you find an RDV-006 on an 88, it should be very crisp and clear.
Another thing to be aware of is the shape of the devices on America. I actually saw this was an RDV-006 before I even got to the FG with the scope because the AM in America had thicker, flatter lettering than the 005s. Coop has good infographics on all of this.
Edit: Also, you can probably expect to hunt a lot longer than two weeks unless you're quite lucky Minnimarine. I have been coin roll hunting for about two years now. I don't blow through boxes like some people out there do since I'm very methodical about searching every coin for even minor errors and varieties, but I've probably hunted at least ~25 boxes of pennies in that time. Keep at it though! You'll find a lot of stuff along the way.

@Samcoin I run through my rolls for keys dates and set aside the other coins for later. I didnt realize I had so many boxes of pennies from the bank. I did know about the difference in th A and M from previous post and from coop, but I didnt not know about the die stage. Thank you very much for that info. Congrats on that find.

@QuarterHoarder Thanks! The other two are 2000 WAMs, not reverse of 89s, but three RDV-006 varieties in what amounts to just about a box and a half worth of pennies is a crazy rate. This one is definitely up there with my all time best finds.
@MinnieMarine glad to pass along some information! This forum has been an amazing resource to me over the couple of years I've been in the hobby, so I'm always happy when I can pay that forward. Good luck with the hunting and hope to see what you find when you comb back through all those boxes for errors and varieties.
