Is there a possible die break on the rim of the obverse?

Agreed again with CF, AU Details. I'm not seeing any signs of a die crack/break, just a rim hit at K6

The surfaces look so much like your 1878-S that I wonder if it's not the lighting that's giving it a cleaned look. I'd also say AU details based on the photos, but is that the way it really looks?

The camera white balance is off and I have a strong feeling the photos are hiding contact marks, or the coin has been smoothed. The only thing that I can tell is the coin appears to be AU.

Yes, that's really how the coin looks. I think my grandfather cleaned most of his coins unfortunately.

thanks for saving them grandfather but you killed their value. back then few folks who were not collectors had no idea. dirty was bad, shiny was good and remember these were still in circulation in the 60's I had a paper route then and remember getting several of these.
