I'm just learning all the wongmder lingo of what everything means.I also included a 1963 D penny in the word LIBERTY the L looks like the number 2. Report this Post to the Staff

Your '83 was struck from a die with a broken post on the lower part of the number 8 and the L of LIBERTY has been damaged on the '63-D. The distorted L appears to be the result of a circulation hit--moved metal. Full and sharp photos of the coin's obverse and reverse would be welcome--might be other interesting things happening. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 05/17/2021 9:44 pm Actually the reason it is raised above the '8' is that the post broke off below the fields, thus making that void taller than the devices. I've seen this before: When the post breaks off flush with the fields the filling of the device is only as full as the device. When the post takes out metal below the fields, then it look like your coin. Not damage from another coin. Just the void below the field makes it taller than the devices.
