I'm new to this coin collecting . But I have came across some interesting coins. Now I'm always looking at each and every coin and or bills. But this 2000 p Virginia quarter has me stumped. I was wondering if someone can please help me understand what I have found.

That quarter is just suffering from environmental damage of some sort.
Didn't look like that when it was struck.

In the future, please show show both sides of the coin and crop your photos.

It may have been dipped into acid. (That would make the coin lighter) Or it may have been found homeless, by a metal detector and the color has come back to the coin, but the dullness remains. (weight should be close to normal) But it wasn't struck that way. Life has not been kind to this coin. It is a spender.

See how much larger the image is with the unnecessary borders on the image?

Much better pictures. It is easier to see the detail on the coin.
Please do this on future posts and it will help us to help you.
