I get confused about which are DD's or weak dies.

Notice how the doubling is flowing towards the rim. That is known as
Die Deterioration Doubling. ( DDD)

Sometimes if they dies are married together for a long time, you can see both sides affected. As mentioned they affected area is in the direction of the closet rims.

Date area to the right. Liberty to the left. And all the ones following rim, will be on the tops/bottoms of the devices.

Note on the DDD, the fields are what are affected, not the devices. On die wear the actual devices move on the older dies:
