Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and somewhat new to coin hunting. With so much to learn I feel I'll never be a Seasoned veteran like some of you out there.

Anyway, I have this new 2021 P Washington CTD quarter and noticed some things going on on the reverse. First the last E in Delaware looks what I guess would be considered doubled, opinions and info would be greatly appreciated. Then there also seems to be what I believe would be considered a die chip on Washington's hat, again opinions and info definitely appreciated.

I haven't found anything posted anywhere in regards to either of these finds. So,could this possibly be a new discovery? If so, what are my next steps? Thanks so much for any and all your help. I look forward to getting to know everyone and learning in the shared knowledge of this community.

UNITED is showing Machine Doubling. How about a closer view of the last three letters on Delaware. Note sure if that is surface stain or something else?

Let me see what I can get for you. I don't have the best camera for this but I'll try to get a good clear one. Thanks for your reply.

There are so many types of errors, damage, etc that effect coins that it's hard to really get to know each aspect and how to tell them apart. There are lines to the right that seem to mimic the E. The first picture in the second set I posted show it slightly. I'm not sure what causes that though. Also if you don't mind would this then just be from Die Deterioration or what causes that doubling-like effect? Any pointers on easy ways to tell the difference between something like this, Machine Doubling, and true double dies?

Usually DDD is seen on the devices that face the closest rim. While that area is towards the rim, the ends of the 'E' would be the only point you would see the DDD. This is often seen on the edge of devices that are taller.

Also on these images you will not, that it is not one device that is affected, it is all the devices in that area will be affected. On this one, I refer to these lines as die flow lines. It an like wrinkles on a senior. These can be polished when the die gets enough of them. But not for just a small area would be a need to fix the issue. They are in the production. So until a bigger event happens to the die, they would wait until then.

You can learn a lot from using the search box found on the top left of every page here on CCF, including many postings on how to tell the difference between Machine Doubling and true doubled dies, and the difference between errors and varieties. Questions? Just ask!

Isn't it funny that it looks like he is holding a beer bottle in his left hand?
