Some wear on the cheek and eagle's wing with some circulation marks in the fields, I'd say AU-55 with gorgeous toning!

AU-55 seems right for detail. The obverse scratches may be enough to garner an AU Details-scratched grade, or maybe they would net-grade down to 53 or even 50. Very nice-looking coin, despite the scratches.

I would have to say AU Details, scratched, as well. There are also a series of lighter scratches perpendicular to the singular one pointed out. Guessing this one got the pass though due to it being gold and having incuse devices. AU53.

I'll say AU-55 straight. The early issues are tougher to grade.

This one is certified as AU-58.. but who knows. I don't have it in hand yet but I like the look of it with the color. Hopefully the scratch isn't too deep. Its not for my Indian set as I have a much nicer coin for that spot.

58 seems a bit generous with all the marks in the fields, but I do like the color.

Zurie, you may be right. I should have it soon and can get a better look. I expect no surprises and that the pics give most of the story. Not a perfect coin but perhaps will look pretty next to the others I have, otherwise will sell it, or sell when bored of it. =}

I think it could be a 55 due to the marks. But It has almost all the details and little wear. THats why 58 could make sense. Again, its anyones opinion. Remember specifically the 1908 lack detail in the eagles shoulder/wing. Struck that way.

@Jon Brand, Since PCGS straight graded this one, I think it will look fine in hand. They have been pretty nit-picky about detailing scratched coins lately, and I think if the scratch was a distraction, the coin would have been detailed. It looks nice for the grade.

Hopefully that scratch isn't distracting in hand and doesn't give you a reason to let it go. It's quite easy to overanalyze (speaking for myself) with sharp pics that can be blown up 5x more than we would with a loop in hand. That, in combination with my inexperience with gold...... never listen to me!!!
Every time I go back to this one, I find the color more attractive. I'd be proud to own it.
