Hi, I think I have a genuine 1856 Flying Eagle cent and am looking to get it graded. Which company would you recommend, PCGS or NGC? Kind regards, Andrew

Agreed, definitely post pictures first. There are far too many counterfeit/altered examples out there. Some more convincing than others. With a clear full shot of the obverse and reverse, the community should be able to tell you pretty quick which route to go.

All of the 1856 Rick Snow has sold in PR63 or better have been in PCGS holders. In fact all his archives lists over 4500 coins sold in PCGS holders and 900 NGC coins sold with under 50 ANACS coins (total not all 1856). Take that for what it's worth but Rick probably sells more 1856 PR and MS Flying Eagles than any other single person on the planet this century. He would be worth contacting before to see what he thinks and also after if it's real and slabs good for a Photo Seal. https://www.indiancent.com/ His site isn't behaving right now, as he is on vacation and just moved shop, so things are a bit weird on it links seem to be broken.

Rick moved his shop about 3 weeks ago. I just purchased a few things from him off ebay and they arrived last week.

My 1856 is a PCGS MS-62 S-3. I did not buy it from Snow; I bought it from another high-end FE/IHC dealer. But the dealer sits right next to Snow at the Whitman shows. I suspect that's where he got it, particularly since it's got one of Snow's "Eagle Eye" stickers on it (his version of a CAC sticker).
