Found this in my loose change, realized that it was rare and potentially valuable. From what I can find that is making it hard to get an accurate valuation and identification is that I've only found one other existing. There is not much widely available so I'm relying on you experts to please help me out. All I can tell you outside of what you can see in the pics is: it's a nickel. It feels to the touch concave (like a tiny bowl?) On the side with the blank face. Weight and everything sensory outside of site seems authentic. Please feel free to email comment or ask me anything.

@boo, first welcome to CCF. Second, that rim bruise is definitely damage. The flattening of all features on the front of the coin is also damage--it didn't leave the mint looking like this.

There is nothing on that coin that can't be attributed to damage.
Well done on the photography and explanation.

Makes me wonder it is was a very thin split off on the planchet issue. But as mentioned, the damage would deeply affect the value to the coin.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied. I didn't know what I had and am thankful that you all took the time to help me out! I really appreciate it and although in the end it wasn't anything I'm grateful to have found the community.

Cheers
