Hey all,

This morning I was looking at my change in the Tim Hortons Drive-Thru and nearly slammed on the breaks. I found my first error in change!

It is not a game changer error, but you can see the print of the bear on the Toonie behind the Queens portrait.

I am not sure the name of this variety/error.

I will play around with my microscope and provide better pictures. Especially when it is the day time.

WEIGHT: 7.05 g
DIAMETER: 28.00mm

Thanks!

to the CCF!

It looks like you've found a Clashed Die Strike coin. The dies used made contact with each other when no planchet was in the press and left an impression from the opposite die. All of the coins struck with this die pair would have the same clash marks unless it was caught by the mint and the dies were polished.

I'm out of my element here as I'm a US Error Coin collector. I'll let one of the real experts on Canadian errors tell you more.

Nice find!

Okiecoiner, the 2006 counterfeits are known for this die clash, It was mentioned last year when the counterfeits were first being spotted.
