I got this in a roll of quarters yesterday. I actually got 2 1965 quarters. I went online last night and today and I couldn't find any errors like this one, if indeed it is an error.

Given the photo posted, I see a common, circulated '65 quarter--complete with some circulation flattening and environmental staining/crud. What does the reverse look like?

to the CCF Always show both sides of the coin when making an inquiry. Also there is nothing about your coin that jumps out to me. What exactly is it that you are seeing as an error?

If you look in between the 9 & 6 there is a 5. Here is a picture of the other side

It is general practice to show full coin images of both sides then a close=up of what you may be seeing on a coin. I see something between the 9 and 6, but it looks like random crud making the image of a 5 there. We see familiar thing in normal objects - like a dog in a cloud formation, Or the face of the devil in a plume of smoke from a massive fire. There is a name for it, but I cannot remember it right now.. I know that someone will shortly.

I hear what you're saying but I really don't think that's correct even though I know nothing of the process of making coins. It most definitely is a five. My hands shake a bit so the picture isn't as clear as seeing it in parson. I definitely respect your opinion though. It could be nothing mainly because I searched for errors and there were no others with any kind of error like that but I am holding out hope till I get it checked out. I live in North Florida in a rural area so I gotta drive a bit to see someone

There maybe something there that is being held there with the grit on on that area? If you have remove that, then it may just fall off the coin? Some acetone might free it. Or mineral oil. Let it soak to loosen it and then use a green thorn to loose it. If you use a toothpick, you need to keep in mind that they could be sand in the grease/gunk on the area. Pushing hard on it might scratch the coin. So be careful trying to remove that gunk.

I see it now. Might be several things, including coincidental toning, but it definitely didn't leave the mint this way. to the CCF!

Some dirt left an impression that looks like a 5, used coop suggestion and soak it lose, if you have a artist soft bristle brush, gently brush over to loosen the rest.

It is just some dirt on it that makes it look like a 5. Not an error. Worth 25 cents.

"If you look in between the 9 6 and 5" is not a description of an error, it's directions to a location on the coin. What are you seeing? Describe it!

This is all new to me because I have never seen that before and maybe you're correct. I personally have never seen that before. I am in the process of cleaning it and got most of the black off but the 5 is still there and I have been lighty rubbing it to help get it all cleaned up. I'll send a pic once done cleaning it

I know nothing jt721 but I see the 5. It is definitely there. Love to see it once it's cleaned but this is 3 months old.
