I'm not sure what would cause the 'T' shown below to appear to have a top hat on :/ ... and I see no DDR's listed with a 'T' looking like this...I appreciate any input

So a die chip can look like it's a smooth extension of a letter as if it's purposely attached to the T like this? I'm still learning. I appreciate the help, @ijn1944 - this will help me in my future coin hunting.

If the die chip is subject to circulation wear, it can 'lose' whatever rough texture it may have had. Large die chips on Lincoln Wheat cent ears can smooth down and look like raised, smooth ovals and spheres.

It looks like the 'STA' on STATES looks like some spread on the right side of that device. But it maybe too minor to list?

I had in mind to check back on this thought and glad I did, as I found the answer to my question:

So the devices are normal sized and contact affected the areas I questioned.

Die chip atop the T. They can appear nearly anywhere and can vary in size and shape.

Well when I see something, I tried to think it through/check to make sure I'm correct. On that image, the line on the 'A' made me wonder what was going on? Damage or spread. With you extra large images, I can edit them and come out with something great. But I found that is was just damage. "Sometimes, your the dog, other times your the wheel."
