I have a question about high rims on the obverse which shows the motto script bleeding close to the rim. I have an 1962 D with such a rim and I am curious if this is a form of die deteriation or the cupping that occurs due to the rim being higher than the surface of the coin? Regards.

That is the start of a Ridge Ring which is caused by Die Deterioration.

You might also be seeing the effect of the higher relief that cents were made with then compared to now.

Die wear is affecting the fields on the areas in question. But the high rims are normal for the year of the coin. 1973 cents have even higher rims. Note on the areas near the date next to the rim? Those are die flow lines forming. Not really a later die state at this point. On TRUST, that area looks like toning as being the color change. Note a rise of the fields, just color change of the aging cent. On the letters of the motto, next to the rim, that is how the dies back then showed their die wear. When the dies got really worn, the devices would actually move towards the rim a lot more:

So what you are seeing on your coin is a coin with medium die wear, that will continue to breakdown during the hundreds of thousands more coin that are struck with these. Just part of the aging process. Kind of a middle aged die at this point. It is not a doubled die or Machine Doubling, just die wear. On the 'R', it looks like something damaged that device, flattening the device into the field on that area. The 'R' used to look like this:
