KauaiHawaiiGuy Pillar of the Community United States 612 Posts	Posted 06/17/2021 11:31 am I'm not familiar with Trade dollars but I know a little about counterfeits. They are either altered real coins, or stamped in a counterfeit press, or cast in molds. And when coins are cast in molds, often because the mold isn't perfect there will be casting bumps and/or voids where the casting material didn't completely fill in an area. There are some areas on this coin that concern me within the letters S, F, and M on the obverse. They look like voids which could not happen in a press. Now I'm not saying this coin is counterfeit, only that those need closer examination, and since you do not have the coin you cannot do. Report this Post to the Staff
