@sam, I think that you are saying that your coin is on top for each of these pairs of pics, is that right?

The bottom images all look like a polished die issue. What are the top images of?

Check the negative space on the inside of the devices in GOD. That is the most obvious way to tell that the devices have been enlarged. You can also see the shadow of the spread lines on the insides of the bars of the W and you can see that the crutches of the W start higher than they do on the normal coin as a result.

@vestigewolf there is a combination of DDD and MD making it harder to see, but if you look at the thickness of the devices, you should see that they have been significantly enlarged. Most notably, the spread lines are still just visible on the posts of the W in WE. The top of the G in GOD also still shows the split serif that hasn't been totally effaced by the circulation wear yet.

Ordinarily I would be hesitant to defend a coin being a particular die based on the presence of die markers, but taken as an additional piece of supporting evidence with the points I've already made about the enlarged devices, spread lines, and split serifs, and the fact that this is a particularly prominent pair of parallel die scratches, I figured I'd also include this. The first image is my coin, second is the listing from Brian's Variety Coins (WDDO-024/DDO-007)

Question: Why are these last images DDO? They are DDRs. On the first images, can you see that the sizes of the devices are not the same? On your images the devices are all smaller. Normal in size. The DDOs devices are wider? As I mentioned a few days back, the devices on your coin are smaller from over polishing. Putting the normal one there shows what the differences are in width? That is what happens. When a die is polished, it it reduced in size compared with a normal coin. When there is a doubled die, the devices are enlarged either taller or wider.

I don't think Coop is looking past the typo Spence pointed out earlier: Quote:The DDO is the one on the bottom. Sam 100% meant the one on the top, it's pretty obvious. Coop's still thinking that the bottom one is the coin Sam thinks is a DDO. The top coin is definitely a match to DDO-007/WDDO-024, nice find! Also, Sam's last post is about the die markers for this variety which you would have understood if you read it.

@Tanman thank you for clearing up the confusion! I didn't understand where the mix up with the top/bottom coin thing was coming from. Thanks for straightening this out and glad to hear you concur with my ID! Edit: @Coop sorry for not getting what you were asking earlier. I meant the "bottom" coin as in the one I stacked on the bottom when I took the side by side picture. The one on the top of the image/the bottom of the stack is the DDO.

@Coop does that mean you agree now that I've cleared things up? I assume you agree that the bottom of the stack/top coin of the image is the DDO since your other infographic lists it as the DDO but credits my image to Variety Vista lol

So this thread isn't about the 1964 DDO-007? That is what the title of the thread is?

Not sure what you mean, Coop. This is about 1964 DDO-007. The top coin in the image (bottom coin the way I stacked them on top of each other to take the picture under my scope) is 1964 DDO-007. The bottom coin was a normal 1964 nickel I included for reference since the spread lines were hard to see.
