It's 1889, not 1899! Sorry.

Unfortunately, the photos posted appear washed out--can't quite get a good look at surface detail.

, this key date to my eyes looks around the XF-45 range, but it appears that a flash mode was used for taking pics, making it look washed out.

So now I know I need to watch out for that when reviewing coins online. I would hope most people are honest and not trying to obfuscate the qualities of the coin, but?

Try shooting new pics using a diffused light source--translucent white plastic or tracing paper between the light source and the coin, Flash photography (if you're using it) is a bugger when used on coins. I know it's a hassle, but you'll get much better assessments from readers. Thanks.

The coin is not in my possession yet. Used a photo editor to try to reduce the brightness and glare. I paid $3,700 for it, so please tell me if I got taken from the date, mintmark, and the photo and paid way too much! I need to know if I really lost my hat on this one.

I'd say EF-40 or so sharpness, but impossible to tell if it's been cleaned. Sounds like too much money to me. This coin should only be bought in a holder unless you're an expert, imo.

I am definitely not an expert! That's why I think you all on this forum are so helpful. Any and all advise on Morgan's is appreciated!

Harshly cleaned. Seller probably trying to disguise with overexposed pictures. Avoid.

Strictly from the standpoint of wear, it looks to have mid to high VF sharpness. But it's impossible to tell the originality of the surfaces and whether it's been cleaned from the washed out photos. $3700 seems pretty high.
