1964 1c Possible Error ?

I'm just trying to learn about the differnt things that I come across looking at these coins and how it happened and if it's something to keep and how it happened.i noticed 2 flattened area's on the edge of the coin and then 1 area where I think it looks like letters that are stamped into the edge. What happened to the coin is it considered damged or something else.

Yes @derf that looks like flattening of the rim after this coin left the mint. The series of indentations might be from whatever squished this coin.

Post mint damage ( PMD), not a mint error. Damage is damage regardless how caused.

Note the affected areas. The metal that was normal is now pushed aside or flattened into a new shape. Not a mint error.
