Not a struck through, just post mint damage ( PMD).

Some kind of damage after it was struck. Not a mint error.

Agree, post strike damage. Didn't leave the striking chamber in this condition. A coin very similar to this one was posted here a few weeks ago. A reader posted an image of a 'tool' with a striking surface very, very similar to the markings on the coin.

Please limit the amount of photos to 3-4 per post. One full coin pic front and one full coin pic back and one or two close ups where and when needed. If we need more we will kindly ask you to post what we need to help you...thanks. John1

If you noticed, I said sorry for the picture overload but I wanted for you to have the visuals. And if it is PMD, where are the flow lines?

Oh,I noticed. I just wanted to let you and other members know to start out with less photos, additional photos can be added later if needed. What flow lines are you referring to? Most likely the marks are from a vise and pressed into the coin. John1

It's PMD. One clear spot that shows it is the mark just southwest of the IN along the rim. The rim there is clearly out of round showing pretty well that it's post mint damage. I think it is image 6 that shows it best.

Quote:if it is PMD, where are the flow lines? This makes me wonder if you know what PMD is? PMD is ANY damage to the coin AFTER it has left the mint. If a coin has any marks or abrasions or scrapes or scratches or scuffs or stains or spots or cracks or scars or nicks or smudges, or toning and/or imprints, that wasn't part of the minting process, it's post mint damage ( PMD).

I know what PMD is. I wonder how they did it without damaging the reverse whatsoever. Things that make you go hmmmmmm!

Not a strike through. The indentations have very visibly displaced material outward.
