I find the difference in the quality of the two strikes educational for me and quite eye opening.

Lighting on the pics not the best. Both coins are bright white with full luster. The first one actually shows a little pleasant toning.

Still learning and I thank everyone for their time and patience.

MS63 (top) and MS61 (bottom) Tough to get these in anything above MS64 expect to pay well over a $1000 per coin in MS65 or better.

I'll say MS-63 and MS-62, respectively. Better lighting would help.

New Orleans Morgans are a source of mystery and frustration. That mint did an exceptional job of basining the dies, and an awful job of striking the coins. The result is weakly struck beautiful surface pancake coins. The mint was also a bullion depository, and had an annoying habit of receiving lightly circulated coins back from merchants and combining them with freshly struck coins in mint bags. The bags were then tossed around like sacks of flour and stored in humid conditions. Then there is the whole episode of the contemporary counterfeit micro-O dollars that likely were made by former mint employees from stolen dies in the early 1900s.

Other than that, what's not to love?

That said, top coin looks like an old school bourse floor BU/SPL reverse, bottom coin looks old school UNC.
