In my collection I have this dundee token. Which refers to a Schottish type. However there is not much to find about this one. There are a few similair but with dates. How can you distinct them in rarity and find more about this?
All best , Vincent

Hmm nothing in tokencatalog.com. I wonder what the reference book for these communion tokens is.

Newest reference work would be

Burzinski, Lester M., 1999
Communion Tokens of the World.

Thx for that info @ts! Good to know for future threads as we do see communion tokens occasionally.

The piece is not dated in the catalogue but obviously dates from after 1843 when the disruption of the Church of Scotland resulted in the formation of the Free Church of Scotland. There is no minister named on it to narrow down the date of issue but from its appearance it looks to be from the mid to late Victorian period.

Note that the listings of these communion tokens that were published in the PSAS are now available online. The link for the free church pieces is http://journals.socantscot.org/inde...le/view/8230.

Wiggle your way around the Society's website will get you to other listings.
