This one looks copper and small date D but needs to be weighed and a question if this is small date D in this raw condition what is it's value and is it worth sending to get graded and who to send it to for the best grading price.

It is a small date but looks copper plated zinc version to me. Not worth more than 1¢

Weigh it before worrying about what to do with it. I agree that it looks like a copper coated zinc.

Yes I would definitely weigh it only for the share fact that if they tell you that you probably need to do you probably need to do it. If not for them I would have made a mistake after mistake after mistake. I do think it looks zinc I've looked at plenty of 82's.

Yes, it's a small date D cent. Appears to be zinc, but an accurate weight will tell the story.

Weight will be 2.5 grams. The copper one is 3.11 grams. Not a copper planchet. How can we tell? Note the plating over the zinc dust on the obverse. That is the clue from the images.

I agree with coop about the zinc dust that can be seen on the reverse above the Memorial. Copper plated zinc cent.

If you want to identify the harder ones get a gram scale.
