I came across this 1971 D penny and initially thought it was just damaged, but then I noticed an unmistakable W LL on the top of his head, under WE T. Am I crazy or is this an error I'm unfamiliar with?

Not an error—pretty sure it is damage plus Pareidolia. Funny to look at though.

Not an error, just post mint damage ( PMD). Keep searching!

Post strike damage, didn't leave the striking chamber in that condition. Does look cool, however, when Pareidolia is applied.

Incuse marks on a coin is a 99% chance of damage to the coin. If these were from the die, they would be raised and know to be part of the design. With devices not on the coin, what you are seeing is not a mint error.

Haha I figured it was too good to be true. Coop, they are raised though, that's why it made me think something was up with it.
