What do you think of this early Half Cent? I like the die cracks--how would you grade it? Do you think this is a high-quality example?

I'm hard pressed to find any wear. It's characteristically light struck with bad dies. So, MS-62?

if you breath too hard that die would fall apart. if you look at PCGS photograde for this series at grade MS60 you will see this obverse with all the planchet imperfections and die issues. I agree with fenton, I cant find any circulation wear on this coin. MS60

Love the die breaks. Looks like a pieced-back-together broken plate!

Not seeing any wear either. A majority of the marks seen are planchet marks left from a weak strike. And of course the die ready to fall apart at any moment.

Great looking example, would gladly take this one any day! MS60/62

Wow, killer coin with a shattered die. I'd say MS-61 and a fantastic example.

I just noticed that this exact coin is featured as the late die state example of the C-1 variety on NGC's VarietyPlus.

Beautiful and fascinating. Might be AU-55, might be MS-63. Surfaces look original, with the various voids and marks mostly due to planchet defects and die damage. Probably worth upwards of $10,000, and definitely a high-quality piece.

PCGS Coin Facts indicates this date tends to sell for significantly higher prices when PCGS-certified, compared with NGC-graded examples. This coin looks great, but maybe there's a general perception NGC grades too easy on these coins.

An absolute beauty! Amazing to see coins from hundreds of years ago still in such incredible shape. I could see this being a mint state coin, likely MS60 or higher. A real piece of American history.

Very nice example, one I'm sure any of us here would be excited to have as part of our collections! That obverse die was definitely on its last legs...

Does the color seem natural?

It looks natural to me, a hint of original red, especially in protected areas.
