Hi

Hope someone can tell what caused this. I have seen the penny candy machine damage cause a depression, this is the first time I have seen a ridge.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance Eric

That would be a ridge ring--evidence of Die Deterioration.

You have several zinc rot blisters forming, which is not a good thing. Search on "zinc rot" atop every CCF page, on the left side for more info.

That Ridge Ring is curved and terminates at the G of GOD.
From the picture anyways.
Those aren't always caused by straight Die Deterioration.
Sometimes you get those ridges from over polishing of the Fields.

Is there a faint 8 in front of Lincoln's nose ?
This is one of the many coins I have seen posted on here that I wish I could view in hand.

Thanks for sharing.

@Eagle_Eye I think your eagle eyes are failing you on the seeing an 8 thing... sounds like Pareidolia

SamCoin, I would have to agree with you on my eyesight.
My wife more so as she braces for impact every time I pull up behind any cars while driving.
My depth perception is shot.

That being said, 1989 has some really nice MAD clashes, especially on the LMC, some floating ones too, and my trained Eyes see something interesting there that has been mostly polished away.

Thanks for the welcome!

EE
