1985d quarter still sealed in uncirculated mint pack, the top half of letters are smashed half flat on top of coin. reverse shows damage opposite obverse but not as clear. Any added value and would grease be the cause?

also same coin can see with naked eye what looks like a two Cuds that make a colon above in God we trust, but when zoomed up I first thought reed damage from another coin but they seem to be raised from surface the way the light reflects. however I sat another quarter on top and you can see the reeds (a bit blurry) don't come close to the line marks. its a strange one to me any clues?

The marks above IGWT appear to be light scrapes, not Cuds. Cuds are typically associated with die breaks along a coin's rim. The scrapes likely occurred while the coin was in transit from the striking chamber to the workstation where uncirculated mint sets were/are assembled.

Yet image looks like an 8 and the scrapes go completly through both bumps but not in the waist line of the bumps so to me it seems the die was hit with glancing blow with a grinding tool which left a raised impression on the coin with the grind marks left behind.

If raised, perhaps die chip-like features caused by damage to the die.

Contact marks can happen on a coin before the coin was placed in the cello. (Note the metal movement, created the raised area on your images) Or sometimes the coin damage can happen through the cello. The first images are showing where the metal contact happen, thus pushing a wave pattern in the fields. Business strike coins are not as protected as proof sets. We had an example posted the other day where you could see a weakness of the damage on the neck of a Quarter. You could see that the damage was done after it was in the cello. How? Because the lines were weaker on that area. I don't I save the image? The images of your coin and that area would have been a great side by side, so I've got to go thread diving to see if I can find that image. First I'm going to see if I had saved it and haven't make an image yet. But I feel your coin is damaged.

I guess I could take it out of the cello and check it better but then it would seem not as authentic in a way
