I see a die crack through the date and environmental damage on the rest of the coin in the form of thick patination. Is there something else you're looking at? It helps a ton if you describe what you're seeing and where you're seeing it. Also, wrong forum, this should be on the classic errors and varieties page.

The full reverse pic went away when you added the closeup. You might have to use different names for your images. It's probably just some corrosion in that area.

It almost looks like a rusted die along with a possible die chip at the S.

Looks like corrosion to me judging from the obverse.

Definitely corrosion, and a rusted die is a good theory.

I agree either corrosion on the coin, or rust pitting on the die. If another coin with the SAME raised lumps in the same area could be found that would confirm die rust. Without a second specimen and the fact the coin does show environmental damage I would lean toward corrosion.

To me, corrosion would 'eat into' a coins surface, making pits outside the mint, while a rusted die would cause bumps to occur on a coin, during minting. So I would lean more to a rusted die here.

It is only corrosion unfortunately. I have a little nicer coin with the same exact die pairing, attaching it for comparison.

1866 Crumbling die variety FL-66-A1

There is a little die rusting going on around the E of United seen primarily at the bottom and to the lower left of the E. It never got so bad that it came up to the rim from the 1000's of varieties I've seen and searched through over the decades.
