Guessing just a severe post-mint gouge.

I agree with Coinfrog.
Lamination usually shows tiny signs of flan splitting along the edges of the depression. A little bit deceiving in this case, due to the shape of the impact depression, but the high mag pictures show no signs of the remains of further flan splitting.

It actually does look like a lamination to me. Is it measurably underweight?

Hard to say - I'd check if underweight as spruett001 suggested.

I'm not sure about the obverse. The union jack on the reverse appears to be the incused variety. Definitely worth more than face value.

I could be wrong though. The pic makes it hard to see

I think that you got mixed up as the reverse doesn't match the obverse for this coin.

Maybe I should have referred to the obverse and reverse as the right coin and left coin. I still stand by my observations.

The comment that I posted earlier 'I think that you got mixed up as the reverse doesn't match the obverse for this coin' was @ ryurazu. I was pointing out that his first photo depicts two different coins, the reverse is 2000 while the obverse is 1983.

I went and wight the coin it is about 15.45 gram to about 15.42 grams, which is roughly the lighter end of the young queens head COA coins but still within range also no hard buckling/bugling of the otherside of the coin. I still will put this in the maybe pile only seen one other coin that was like this but that was due to foreign object when striking and was nearly UNC, this is not so questions would definitely arise as to if it was just a tooled coin.
Oh the other coin isn't the reverse of the coin it's just for comparison for the indention (incuseness) depth and size, as that quite a well know type of 50c coin so you can compare how large and significant the indent is.
The help is need on the right side 50c just to be clear.
ill try to upload so extreme close up with diffuse lighting especially to area between the error and the normal part of the coin, to see if there any tooling marking.
Thankyou for the replies :D
