Howdy all! I looked online but I didn't see any info that was outthere about 1979 S penny *wide/close* varieties. Also my Wide AM appears to have double letters Does anyone know anything about these coins?

@char, can you please add a nice close-up pic of the letters that appear doubled? Thx.

There is no WAM or CAM for 1979, they are all the same.
As Spence stated, need a clear closeup of the Doubled letters.

They are both the same design. I think you're confusing yourself because you took the photos in different orientations (the second one is rotated slightly counterclockwise relative to the first). Just two coins worth face value (or a little more in copper value since they're pre-1982).

The differences is where the 'M' is between AME. Centered it is a Wide AM, To the left of center a Close AM.

The distance between the 'AM' doesn't count, it is the distance between 'M' with the devices. AM-E means a Close AM. A M E is a Wide AM. The distance between the devices can vary because of the wear and die polishing. But the location of the 'M' doesn't change on the Wide/close AM. It is either to the left of center ( Close AM), or centered ( Wide AM).
