It can't exist as the mint at San Frisco had been closed over 5 years. So it can't happen.

Shouldn't be real long (never is for me). While we're waiting.. what year coin (and type) is this "S over D"?

Really tough pic to tell by but it looks like what you see below came off of the mm, shaved off and flipped over.

Agreed w/ makecents, tough to tell, but to me it looks like a spot of corrosion. As said earlier, San Francisco produced no S cents from 1956 to 1967.

Lets suppose there are two mintmarks, an S and a D. Am I wrong in seeing the remote possibility of an S mintmark. Although the S does not look like any S I recall seeing on any minted US coin.
To my old eyes the D would be the mintmark on top of the suspected S.
So if it was a S mark, then a D mark on top of the S would it not be called a D over S? Instead of an S over D? Just a thought....
Given the fact that there appears to be some added element such as glue, or clear soda to the date, I am inclined to go with post mint issue that would be cleared up and seen as non issue once that element is removed.
Try soaking in acetone to see if it can be cleaned up!
