this is the oldest coin that I own. grade and approx. value opinions are appreciated. not knowing much about this coin, and from what I read in several sources I estimate AG3 or G4.

Hello Dbrablec,
I agree with an AG-3 grade for this coin. The rims are worn into the date and letters and that is too much wear to make the Good grade.

The 1860-S is a common date and is probably worth around $20 in this grade. It is a perfectly nice type coin and will do fine until you decide you want a higher-grade example.

The obverse might just barely make Good, but not the reverse: AG-3.

Nice piece of history from the early days of the San Francisco Mint!

I've got an 1856-O Seated Lib Half I pulled from a bag of junk silver that's in identical condition to yours.

I graded mine AG-3 and yours is the same!
