2000 Sac Cheerios Dollar Found In Circulation.

Noticed this article in Coin World. A collector in North Carolina found this one in a roll and subsequently submitted to ANACS where it graded AU55. 5,500 prototype reverse coins were minted (the US Mint was partnered with General Mills) and randomly placed in 1,000,000 boxes of Cheerios. There has to be more out there Here are the pics of normal 2000 reverse and the prototype "Cheerios" reverse.

It was bound to happen. Someone gets a dollar in their cereal, they treat it like a $1-off coupon and buy another box with it!

I think I spent mine... along with the penny, too....

That was when I was 8 or 9, when I didn't collect coins (only banknotes), so if you're near Columbia SC, there might be a Cheerios Dollar in circulation near you!
