Hmm , very possible . It has that look , if it was only a hair darker in my opinion . I'm going to say yes it is .

They actually come in a variation of colors, some fairly light colored.

It looks more of a brown color pattern "on top" of the metal to me,that's all. John1

Because I have rolls of them, 1959 phillys all cobalt bluish grey that I bought from an old collector back in the early 60's because they looked so odd , I said to myself these suckers will be sought after someday . Many years later I read an article about improper annealing of 1958 and 1959 Nickels , Also a few 1955 were discovered . Later to be known as '' Black Beauty's '' So I am confident I'm sitting on a nice cache of Critters . Unfortunately I am not able to post photos .
