Hello everyone,

I have been collecting for about a week. In that time, I have become so addicted that I have already purchased a digital scale and a Dcorn microscope.

That being said, I found a 2020 Bat quarter with a definite error (I don't yet know all the vernacular) above one of the ears. I will post some other pics of the obverse of the coin, as there are a couple marks about which I'm wondering.

Thanks for any help.

. What is a Dcorn microscope? Could use close ups,but the first pic looks like a die crack and or die chip. The other pic looks like scratches on the coin and a couple hits?

Possible die chip (as above), plus what looks like a partial reeding hit on the neck (2nd photo). Fresh quarters occasionally have randomly placed linear divots caused by edges of coins impacting coin surfaces while being handled in bulk at the mint and/or at 'first time' coin rolling facilities. Fresh coins take a beating as they make their way from the striking chamber to their earliest circulation destination.

A Dcorn microscope has a 4.3" screen that helps me see the finer details better than with a magnifying glass. Plus, it has a way to hook it up to my computer so I can see even better. It wasn't terribly expensive but I have really enjoyed it so far.

I would agree with the die chip above the ear.
