Following up the publication of his first book (small cents, Elizabeth II), Christian Houle has completed another book, on Elizabeth 5c, with volume 1 from 1953 to 1981. With a dedication and passion for even the minor details, similar to what Hans Zoell did decades ago. It's a good reference to see if you have found previously known varieties or use it as a baseline when discovering new varieties. It is 245 pages long, it's a real labour of love. Well looks like I need to go get a prepaid card and order away. It's about time we got some more modern Canadian variety material. Thanks for sharing, SPP.

I have his 1c book. These are truly labours of love, with great images.

Wow! Both of the books would go a long way to answering questions that pop up here every day. Did Johnwayne007 have anything to do with this book?

Definitely outside of my area of expertise, but as a book lover, specifically a numismatic bibliophile, this book is obviously really well thought out and produced. While I probably wont get a copy for myself, I will keep a look out for it, or possibly order it for browsing from the ANA Library if they get a copy. Thank you for the review SPP-Ottawa!

Quote: Did Johnwayne007 have anything to do with this book? Okiecoiner, no I did not have a hand in this book, it does look like an interesting read though, I will have to get myself a copy. SPP-Ottawa, Curious question if I may, this book says it is aimed towards errors and varieties on Canadian 5 cent coins however the cover depicts a 1962 5 cent coin with Die Deterioration Doubling that is neither an error nor a variety and happens over the span of the dies working life (i know you knew that already) but I couldn't help but ask, does this book also include the common things that arent errors or varieties (the 1962 for example) and that is why it is on the cover? or am I missing something? I do know that there are many collectors out there that consider deterioration as a variety but I thought I would see what your input was, overall it looks like a well thought out book that will be going on my "to-buy" list.

Similar to Houle's 1c book... it covers almost anything and everything. Think of the Zoell books as analogy.
