1975-76 US Mint Uncirculated Sets

It's a little unusual but not rare. No doubt it's something about the storage conditions.

I have one nickel that is turning rainbow on the reverse wish it were the obverse. As for storage they have never been opened yet were stored in un-airconditioned bedroom in Arizona's heat for 40+ years. As to cleaning they are still sealed and I'm probably selling them so I'll let the new owner worry about that. Funny How all the sets were stored in same box yet early 70s were not toning and 78 on not toning either just 75,76 and part of 77.

Nothing out of the ordinary. I can't recall the last time I came across a 1975 set without some degree of toning. You can only hope it's attractive, but often it isn't. However, over the past year I acquired over a dozen 1972 and 1973 sets without a hint of toning.

'72 and '73 sets are much more frequently encountered in pristine condition. The '80 is the next date often seen OK and the '81 a little better yet.




About 75% of '75 mint set clad coins can be restored to blast white with a long soak in 91% isopropyl alcohol.

'68 and '71 issues are the least likely to be OK.
