Finally found this rare variety in a roll I got from a local coin show today! Been after it for a while and I am very happy to finally find one roll hunting. It's been a rough patch for coins I've hunted recently and this really makes up for it.

It's not going to be a high grade obviously, but it's mine! It also appears to be in a fair die state, as I have seen some of these that are pretty mushy and this one still has strong splits and separation. In hand it is a nice brown color with no cleaning or major damage. Based on graded examples of this variety, I think this could possibly go G-06/VG-08?

Thanks for taking a look!

Despite the circulation flattening, I agree that there are some splits at the tops of the letters, especially in the WE of IGWT. Nice find!

Thanks Spence! It's a pretty rare variety to find so I'm happy with it. TRUST has some well defined notches and splits too.

Congrats! I've been trying to get one the same way you did, and it continues to elude me.

Thanks Tanman! It really is a tough variety. Been through a lot of 1917's and this is the very first one I've found. Well worth the hunt. Keep looking!

Congrats on a super pickup.

That separation on TRUST is what usually does it for me. Especially the separation on the TRU and with how wide the vertical on the last T is, compared to the horizontal bar.

Thank you Pete! My go-to spot is always the date first, looking for that forked 9. Even if I don't see anything immediately on the date I'll scan over TRUST just to be sure. As you mentioned, the wide separation is pretty dramatic on TRUST.
